The Role of Consultants |

Consultants are one of the three core constituencies of the MAC Partnership. The fifteen Founding Members of the firm constitute the heart of our Consultants group. We also partner with like-minded solo practitioners who consult by the same rules as we do. The primary role of our Consultants is to work on projects with clients. In addition, our Consultants also play a key role in developing original Intellectual Property (IP) for the firm, whether they are located inside or outside the MAC Partnership. Consultants are often equity partners of the firm and play a key role in our governance. Our Consultants operate in two primary ways: Our Consultants Work on Client
Projects They operate either individually or in small teams. They focus on the needs of individuals within the company or organization. They are both specialists on certain issues, and broad-based generalists of strategic and organizational problems. They have a vast network of resources to draw from, without organizational boundaries. They can go to other Consultants in the firm, or find other specialized Consultants to help, if needed. They use cutting-edge practices because of the firm's academic relationships. They can also put our clients in touch with other executives facing similar issues. Our Consultants Generate Original Intellectual Property Our Consultants also contribute to the IP of the MAC Partnership. All are recognized experts in the field of practice we have chosen, which we call Customer-Inspired Innovation. Many of them are published authors in their own right, and sought-after authorities in the areas of innovation, client loyalty, customer insights or leadership. In selective cases, we also undertake the development of intellectual property in partnership with outside Consultants who have created and applied original IP of interest to us. We select the IP we sponsor as a function of three criteria. First, it must fit well with our chosen practice area of Customer-Inspired Innovation. Secondly, the IP must be original. Thirdly, the IP must have demonstrated its viability in the market, which we test though client projects. |
