When it comes
to providing consulting services, the MAC Partnership offers four distinctive
characteristics
1. We're a global network of senior advisors.
The MAC Partnership does not have legions of junior consultants eagerly
waiting to be staffed on large assignments. Our economics do not hinge
on high utilization rates. In fact, the MAC Partnership only has senior
people striving to do innovative work with interesting clients. Because
these senior people have known each other for many years, they operate
globally, without any of the office-based economic barriers associated
with major consulting firms. This light network structure also helps
us avoid the typical Anglo-Saxon bias of many large consulting firms.
2. We offer cutting-edge approaches, developed
in partnership with thought leaders.
Because we are a marketplace of ideas, our consulting is cutting-edge.
When working with us, our corporate clients know they are working with
fresh ideas, not yesterday's models. Our assignments are often conducted
in close partnership with our thought leader Partners – whether
they be corporate Managers, Academics, or Consultants. We enjoy privileged
access to these thought leaders because we honor the conceptual integrity
of their models. Thought leaders typically find it difficult to partner
with large consulting firms, because they fear the economic pressures
of utilization and leverage might result in the dilution or cheapening
of their concepts inside large client relationships.
3. We believe in small, high-value projects,
delivered through workshops and skills-building interventions.
Because we do not have a pyramid of junior consultants to feed, we do
not explicitly seek large engagements. Many of our projects are small
by consulting standards, yet our client relationships are long-lasting.
We will on occasion undertake larger assignments requiring a global
deployment of senior resources. Our focus is on delivering high-value
to our clients, which can take the form of workshop-based interventions,
individual coaching advice, or skills-building sessions. We favor focused
assignments with well-defined deliverables over sprawling assignments
with vaguely defined goals.
4. Our practice is both analytical and emotional.
Our advisors are rigorously analytical in their approach, as you would
expect from top-level consultants. In addition to their impeccable analytical
skills, however, our advisors believe that the adoption of new practices
by their clients also requires an emotional component. To generate an
emotional identification with the solutions proposed, we often use metaphors,
stories, and media-based ways of engaging into the actual experience
of the change. We frequently organize peer sessions or field trips that
involve the main actors in success stories, or capture their experience
through video or other highly visual media.
